Aimee Cicchiello CC’19

Dobrý den! I am a senior in CC studying Political Science and Religion. In the spring of 2018, I studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic with the UPCES program. My classes where held in a palace in the heart of Prague, and I was able to take several political science and history courses with professors who had different perspectives from their experiences living under communism. My program took us on several excursions, including a trip to Krakow, Poland to visit Auschwitz and several small Czech towns renowned for their architecture, wine, or silver mines. I lived in an apartment with other American study abroad students, and they truly became a second family to me. We explored hidden parks, attended witch burning holidays, and participated in anti-communist protests. I also had the opportunity to explore other European countries, but some of my favorite memories include getting lost on hikes through the “Bohemian Switzerland” and talking for hours at beer gardens. The cultural immersion that studying abroad affords has allowed me to really understand life from a different perspective and has shaped my goals and decisions since I’ve returned. I am very excited to talk about my experiences and answer any questions you may have about Prague or study abroad in general — so please feel free to reach out to me!
