Emma Vadillo Quesada GS’19

I am a senior in GS majoring in Hispanic Studies, and I spent the summer of 2018 in Rio de Janeiro. Aside from the language and culture classes taught by Professor Castellanos-Pazos and members of the faculty at PUC, there was plenty of time to take sunbaths on Ipanema, enjoy live samba music and forró in the center, go hiking in the forest of Tijuca, get lost in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, and more. I think spending four weeks immersed in the Cidade Maravilhosa is a great opportunity to polish your Portuguese and learn about yourself. During my time there, I took the opportunity to visit the nearby cities of Niteroi, Petropolis, and Buzios, and I also travelled to the nearby states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais on previous occasions. So if you have any questions about studying abroad - be it with regards to academics, organization, safety, or travelling to a foreign country in general - do not hesitate to get in touch!
