The IFSA in Peru: Pontificia Universidad Católica (PUC) de Peru in Lima is a supported enrollment program offered during the fall, spring, and academic year. In order to participate, you need to complete through Intermediate Spanish II, or the equivalent, prior to departure. Lima is a ocean-side capital city of more than 8 million people. It is an important South American economic and cultural center, and is known throughout the region for its rich history, beautiful setting, arts and cuisine. During the semester, you attend one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America (PUC), engage in community service, a wide variety of course work, have an immersive homestay experience while improving your Spanish language abilities.
The program offers a combination of direct enrollment classes at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Peru (PUC), Spanish language courses, as well as a core course on contemporary Peruvian Society and History. The PUC is known for having a wide variety of courses available to students.
While in Peru, students live with host families. IFSA only places one student per family to ensure that they are able to better integrate with the family. Typically, students live with host families in San Isidro and the Miraflores neighborhoods. During your time abroad, you are encouraged to get involved in community service to learn the most you can about local Peruvian society and issues. The program takes students on several excursions which in the past have included Maccu Picchu, Caral and Pachacamac.
