Overview
NYU Florence is a study center program with a wide range of courses that have a strong focus on the humanities and social sciences. The curriculum in this program takes advantage of the extraordinary cultural resources provided by the city of Florence by offering a unique array of co-curricular lectures and activities.
Academics
Most content courses are taught in English, while some courses are offered in Italian for students proficient in the language. You will have the opportunity to study Italy's history and its extraordinary art, literature, philosophy, and architecture, along with the political, cultural, economic, and social issues that play a role in shaping Europe's future. Courses in business, film, photography and studio art are also offered and will make use of the unique resources only available in Italy.
Program Features
You have the option of living in on-campus housing, a homestay or an off-campus residence.
To complement the curriculum, many professors organize local site visits and out-of-town field trips. These activities will allow you to take your studies beyond the classroom.

To apply, you must complete the two steps below. Deadlines vary, and some applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Therefore, you should complete the steps below simultaneously:
- To apply for Columbia clearance (approval) to study abroad, click on "Start Your Application" on this webpage. Clearance applications are approved on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this webpage.
- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
