Spring 2021 applications are open. You are encouraged to actively consider back up options at Columbia in case travel continues to be restricted, the program is cancelled, or the program is not approved. Modifications to the program may be made in order to adhere to local health and safety guidelines to address the COVID-19 pandemic. More updates will be provided once you “Start Your Application.”
You can spend a Spring semester at Pembroke College, Cambridge University. You will participate in Cambridge's famed supervision system alongside local students. You will live in University accomodations.
You will participate in Cambridge's supervision system for all coursework. You will usually have an hour-long supervision each week, either individually or in small groups with an expert in the course, called a "paper" at Cambridge. Typically you'll "read" two papers during your time at Cambridge. Please note that at this time the program only offers the ability to arrange supervisions for certain topics, mostly in the humanities and social sciences. Please visit the program website for an updated list of coursework available.
You will live and eat in University accomodations. You will have the ability to explore Cambridge student groups and activities and to participate in University traditions such as formal hall.
Review eligibility to ensure that you meet all Columbia requirements to study abroad.
Review the external program webpage to understand any additional program prerequisites. Successful candidates traditionally have a 3.75 GPA or higher.
To apply, you must complete the two steps below. Deadlines vary and some applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Therefore, you should complete the steps below simultaneously:
- To apply for Columbia clearance (approval) to study abroad, click on "Start Your Application" on this webpage. Clearance applications are approved on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this webpage.
- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. This is a popular, rigorous program and tends to fill prior to the application deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and we would encourage you to apply to this program a full year prior to the semester you wish to attend (i.e. the Spring prior to the Spring you plan to enroll).
