Spanish Studies Abroad offers you the opportunity to study Spanish while living with a homestay family in the Mediterranean harbor city of Alicante. You may choose a 4 or 8 week program of intensive language study.
You can choose Spanish courses at all levels. There are also options for internships; however, please note that internship credit is unable to be transferred back to Columbia.
You live in carefully selected homestay families to ensure the most linguistic and cultural immersion possible. The program provides a variety of field trips and excursions to expose you to Spanish culture.

To apply, you must complete the two steps below. Deadlines vary and some applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Therefore, you should complete the steps below simultaneously:
- To apply for Columbia clearance (approval) to study abroad, click on "Start Your Application" on this webpage. Clearance applications are approved on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this webpage.
- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
