Bristol is one of the top universities in the United Kingdom, and has a world-wide reputation for its academic achievement and research. One of the Russell group of British universities, Bristol has strengths in many disciplines. Of particular note are: American Studies, Biological Sciences, British Studies, History, Engineering, Gender Studies and Theatre and Drama.
Students choose from a combination of courses from various departments and can create their own areas of specialization. Programs in Literature and Medicine and Pre-medical Studies are available. A full semester-load of classes entails 60 points of credits which usually involves two or three courses per term drawn from a variety of departments. Theatre and Drama courses are reserved for students majoring in this area.
