Overview
The Yonsei University Summer Language Program is designed for you should you wish to improve your Korean language skills and also experience Korean culture throughout the summer. The program takes the regular 200-hour program and concentrates it into 100 hours of study, all while being able to participate in additional afternoon cultural activities which may include: Korean cooking, Korean Pottery, Taekwondo, K-pop dance, etc.
Academics
Students study Korean at the appropriate level for 20-hours per week.
SEAS students may also take courses in English. Columbia College and SEAS students have different summer transfer credit rules, especially for courses taught in English. Students interested in this program should review summer transfer credit eligibility to help determine which courses offered on the summer program will be eligible for transfer credit.
Program Features
Students are encouraged to live in the on-campus dormitories. Through visits to Korean cultural heritage sites, students will also learn more about Korea’s past and present, as well as experience Korean culture firsthand.

Application Instructions
To apply, you must complete the two steps below. Deadlines vary and some applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Therefore, you should complete the steps below simultaneously:
- To apply for Columbia clearance (approval) to study abroad, click on "Start Your Application" on this webpage. Clearance applications are approved on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this webpage.
- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
