Overview
AIT-Budapest | Arts, Film & Culture (AFC) is a specialized study abroad program designed to give students interested in different artistic fields, such as Creative Writing, Film, Music, and Visual Arts, the opportunity to explore the heritage and contemporary cultural scene of the Hungarian capital while collaborating with their peers and faculty members on independent projects.
Academics
AIT is located in the vibrant and beautiful city of Budapest. You will learn from experts and experienced artists in a small classroom setting that emphasizes close collaboration. The curriculum encourages students to conduct fieldwork, explore Budapest's heritage and contemporary cultural scene, and reflect on their own study abroad experience through artistic means.
The main component of the program is the mandatory Creative Production Course. Students will gain experience of everyday life and culture in Budapest and in-depth knowledge of their specific artistic field, to create a piece of artwork. Then, to supplement your experience, the Elective Liberal Arts Courses offer Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Culture and the Arts, providing general and Eastern European-focused knowledge.
Program Features
You will live in an apartment with other program participants.
Also, to help you integrate into Hungarian culture, you can participate in extracurricular activities hosted by AIT. Past activities include city tours, music concerts, and Hungarian countryside excursions.

- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
