Meals: The cost for meals and food will vary widely depending on individual spending habits. Costs can be kept down by preparing their own meals and only eating out occasionally. If you are living in a homestay, the estimate for meals can be reduced.

Local Transportation: In Amman, students typically use taxis to get to their destinations. Arranged transportation will pick students up from the Amman airport at the start of the program. Students will be responsible for paying for transportation from and to the airport in Amman.

Visa: All students are required to have a visa to study in Jordan. While you can apply for a visa before you depart, it is very straightforward and less expensive to obtain your visa once you arrive at the airport in Amman. The visa will be valid for 30 days, which means that if a student is not leaving Jordan during the travel break, they will need to apply for a visa extension to stay in Jordan or pay a fine (approximately 1.5 JD/day) when they leave the country.

Books and course supplies: These expenses include books, photocopies, and dictionaries.

Cellphone: All students are required to have a working cell phone capable of making and receiving both local and international calls throughout the duration of the program. The cost above is based on U.S. cellphone plans.

Airfare: Estimated cost of a round trip airfare from NYC to Amman. Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements from their preferred departure city to the program.

Personal Expenses: Personal expenses are highly variable based on each person's spending habits. They may include entertainment and personal travel. Please note that for those planning to travel on the one week break, personal expenses will be much higher than this estimate as students will need to account for additional housing and transportation. Please account for this when planning for the program.

It is required that you maintain a health insurance policy that will also provide coverage outside the U.S. for routine, urgent and emergent care. This cost is not included in our estimates.
