Tuition: The program tuition invoice will be sent via e-bill to your Columbia Student Account in the first week of June 2024 and will be due in the beginning of July 2024. It covers tuition, some course materials, and costs related to any program-related activities.

Housing: All students are required to live in program-arranged housing and the cost will be charged on your Columbia e-bill.

**Document (transcript) Fee: This one-time fee is charged to new students and will be included in your e-bill. Barnard students might be charged this fee if they haven’t taken a course at Columbia.

Deposit: All students are required to submit a non-refundable $1,000 deposit to reserve your place in the program and it will be applied towards your tuition.

Meals: The cost for meals and food will vary widely depending on individual spending habits. Costs can be kept down by preparing your own meals and only eating out occasionally.

Local Transportation: Many locations are within walking distance of student housing. Any personal travel is not included in this estimate.

Visa Expenses: U.S. citizens do not require a visa. Non-U.S. citizens may have different requirements and costs.

Books and course supplies: Information regarding course materials will be distributed before the course begins.

Cell Phone: All students are required to have a working cell phone capable of making and receiving both local and international calls throughout the duration of the program. This estimate is based on the cost of getting a local sim card.

Airfare: Estimated cost of round-trip airfare from New York to London, then travel to Cambridge by railway. You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements from their preferred departure city to the program.

Personal Expenses: Personal expenses are highly variable based on each person's spending habits. Any personal travel is not included in this estimate.


As part of the program, you will be covered for urgent and emergent care while you are abroad. Routine and preventive care is not included so you should maintain a health insurance policy that will provide coverage outside the U.S. or your home country. This cost is not included in the chart above.
