SUSTAINABLE U [Spring '22]

Sustainable U provides a platform equipping users to learn about, participate in, and create SDG-related initiatives on campus, simultaneously fostering a sense of community across the university system.

Why did you start the project and what are you most excited about it?

Kerem:

I got interested in sustainable development as there are many overlaps with my major and wanted to engage with the field. When I met the team, I really liked their idea of creating an SDG-centric platform and wanted to be a part of this cause.

Noelle:

We at Sustainable U found that there is a lack of awareness about the SDGs and that students and faculty and staff outside of the sustainability disciplines at universities aren't familiar with the SDGs and don't know how or where to get involved in sustainability initiatives. So we set out to create a fun and engaging mobile app that will help users learn about and get involved with the SDGs and related initiatives on and around their campus. We are super excited about the progress we have made in the development of our app. Based on our multiple rounds of UX testing we have been able to refine our app and make it into something that our users will enjoy engaging with!
