Investigating Indigenous Education Resources: TrêsUnidos, the Kambeba people, and the question of equitable education [Summer 2024]

Students created a 25 page research paper investigating the educational challenges faced by the Kambeba people of Três Unidos. It explores recommendations as to how to strengthen the educational system within the community, based upon an analysis of a roundtable discussion held with six young people, aged between 14 and 20, within the community itself. These recommendations relate specifically to the lack of higher education institutions accessible within or near Três Unidos and the subsequent theoretical possibility of implementing one within the community, the problems incurred by the current lack of Indigenous teachers working within the community’s High School, and how that gap could be resolved, and the case for a Kambeba Heritage Museum within Três Unidos.
