Overview
Established in 1845, the University of Galway has a strong service culture and a distinguished reputation for teaching and research. Easy to navigate on foot or by bike, this beautiful campus is hugged by the Corrib River on one side and neighborhoods that border the city center on the other.
Academics
Students take five or six courses per semester in any field for which they have the prerequisites. Its programs in English, History, Sociology, Political Science, and Psychology are particularly notable. While classes are taught in English, the University maintains a commitment to the Irish language, and you will hear Gaelic spoken throughout the region.
It is even encouraged to start your cultural journey by taking the university’s beginner Gaelic class for visiting students!
Program Features
Located on the west coast of Ireland, Galway is the third-largest city in the Republic of Ireland, yet it remains an easily manageable and accessible town. Known as the "Cultural Capital of Ireland," it is a vibrant, small city with a thriving traditional Irish culture and community.
Students live in residential student villages, a 15-minute walk from campus.

- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
