Overview


Established in 1845, the University of Galway has a distinguished reputation for teaching and research. Every year, the university plays host to over 1500 international students, comprising 10% of the total student population. Students choose from one of five undergraduate colleges in a full array of disciplines.

Academics

Students take five or six courses per semester in any field for which they have the prerequisites. Its programs in English, History, Sociology, Political Science, and Psychology are of particular note. While classes are taught in English, the University maintains a commitment to the Irish language and you'll hear Gaelic spoken throughout the region.

Program Features

Located on the west coast of Ireland, Galway is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland but is still an easily manageable and accessible town. Known as the "Cultural Capital of Ireland," it is a vibrant, small city with a thriving traditional Irish culture and community. Students live in residential student villages a 15-minute walk from campus.
