"Studying abroad also pushed me personally to become more adaptable. Living and learning in an unfamiliar environment required me to step outside my usual routines and engage more deliberately with cultures different than my own."

Studying abroad in Paris was an opportunity to experience one of the world's most influential cultural and artistic centers while approaching my Columbia education from an entirely new perspective. Through the Summer in Paris English Track, I was able to study music humanities and linguistics while experiencing firsthand many of the works, places, and historical traditions we discussed in the classroom.

The Global Learning Scholarship made this experience possible and supported my academic and cultural experience abroad. Paris offered a unique environment in which learning extended far beyond the classroom. Whether listening to music in historic spaces or simply navigating a new city, I developed a deeper appreciation for how culture and history shape the way we understand the world.

Studying abroad also pushed me personally to become more adaptable. Living and learning in an unfamiliar environment required me to step outside my usual routines and engage more deliberately with cultures different than my own. The experience reinforced my interest in understanding societies beyond the United States and approaching global issues with greater historical and cultural awareness.

My summer in Paris was one of the most meaningful parts of my Columbia experience so far. I returned with a stronger appreciation for the value of global education and a renewed curiosity about the world beyond my familiar surroundings. I am grateful to the Global Learning Scholarship, the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement, and everyone who helped make this experience both academically enriching and personally transformative.
