Based at the Brown in Italy office, Brown University partners with the University of Bologna in a supported direct-enrollment program. The University of Bologna has a wide variety of courses, and you will have access to the full range of academic offerings. You must have at least 3 semesters of Italian, or the equivalent, prior to departure.
Spend time studying at the University of Bologna, the oldest continuing institution of higher learning in Europe. Among its alumni are Thomas Aquinas and Italy's most famous writers, Dante, Petrarch, and Torquato Tasso.
Before starting the semester, you attend a "proseminar," an intensive one-month Italian language and culture course. You take three courses directly at the University of Bologna with local Italian students during the semester. You will have access to a multitude of courses at the University of Bologna, including Art, History, Film, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, and more.
Please note that the Spring semester extends into early June.
You live in a student residential facility that accommodates furnished private or shared rooms. You will have access to common areas, including a study lounge, laundry room, gym, pool, and a shared kitchen. The residence is within walking and biking distance to the city center, museums, and the University of Bologna.
