Overview
Learn alongside local students at CET Brazil to not only challenge and improve your Portuguese skills but also widen your global perspective. On the Direct-Enroll at Universidade de São Paulo track, students will spend a semester “doing as the locals do” and attend Universidade de São Paulo (USP) — one of South America’s most prestigious educational institutions. To participate, you need to complete a minimum of 3 semesters of Portuguese, or the equivalent, prior to departure.
Academics
Students combine one intensive pre-semester Portuguese language course with one CET elective and two or three direct-enroll courses at USP. The pre-semester Portuguese language course will help you warm up your Portuguese in time for your direct-enroll coursework. The CET and direct-enroll elective courses are across several fields, including Economics, Film, International Studies, Latin American Studies, Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, and more.
Program Features
You will live in a shared apartment with CET peers and local roommates, who can teach you everything you need to know about Brazilian college life.
As a student of Brazil’s largest public university, not only can you partake in local campus life, such as student clubs and activities, but you also have the chance to connect with students from all over the country.
Beyond the big city, you will explore the African roots of Brazilian culture during a week-long seminar in Salvador da Bahia where you will travel to the countryside and visit Kaonge Quilombo, the São Joaquim Market, and Dendê Valley.
