Overview
CET Taiwan, located in Taipei, blends the benefits of life in a big city with quick getaways to nature. Students will take a combination of a required intensive Chinese language class offered at any level and an English-taught elective that takes their learning outside of the classroom. Although it is helpful, you do not need to have prior experience with the Chinese language in order to apply.
Academics
Students combine a direct-enroll language course taught at National Taiwan University's (NTU) Chinese Language Division with one English-taught elective. During the intensive language course, students will be placed in small class sizes for targeted language learning, and the class will meet once daily for 3 hours. The English-taught elective you select may focus on several fields, including East Asian Studies, History, Film, Political Science, Public Health, Gender Studies, and more.
Program Features
You will live in a shared apartment with CET peers and local roommates from NTU, which will instantly give you insider access to the city.
To encourage language acquisition and understanding of cross-cultural differences, you will be paired with a local college student for a weekly language exchange. During these meet-ups, you can teach each other about the latest trends over coffee or get lunch in a neighborhood that’s new to you.
