Overview

The CIEE Czech Republic: Film Studies program in Prague offers a combination of courses taught by CIEE and the Prague Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU). The coursework is targeted explicitly at Film Studies students, and you will have the opportunity to develop and produce your short film or screenplay.

Academic Program

FAMU is one of the preeminent film schools in Central Europe and is known for its film production, screenwriting, and film studies. Famous FAMU alumni include Stanislav Barabas and Oscar-winners Milos Forman and Agnieszka Holland.

You will participate in either the production or screenwriting track. In either track, you will have the opportunity to create a short film or screenplay under guided mentorship. You will take practical and theoretical film electives courses at FAMU.

You will also take a two-week intensive Czech language course to help integrate into the local community and facilitate cultural immersion.

Program Features

You have the option to live in a homestay, shared apartments with other CIEE students, or in a dormitory-style residence hall with a mix of CIEE, local, and international students.

You will take part in a wide variety of cultural excursions. Past excursions have included a visit to Barrandov Film Studios and an overnight trip to an international student film festival.
