Overview

The CIEE Singapore: Semester in Singapore program allows students to engage with the city's unique blend of Asian and Western cultures, iconic architectural landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, bustling markets, and a lively arts scene. Choose from a unique mix of courses at CIEE's Study Center and either host institution, James Cook University or Singapore Management University (SMU).

Academics

You will take a combination of courses at CIEE's Study Center and at the host institution of your choice, either James Cook University or Singapore Management University (SMU).

At James Cook University, which is ranked in the top 2% of universities in the world, students will take three courses across subjects such as psychology, neuroscience, sustainable development, environmental science, data science, and more.

At Singapore Management University (SMU), the third-oldest autonomous university in the country, students will take two courses across subjects such as economics, Asian studies, sociology, philosophy, sustainable development, and more.

Please note that Columbia College generally transfers credits only for courses taken in liberal arts subjects. Some credits may not transfer in subjects that are taught at Columbia professional schools, such as business, management, or law. If you have concerns regarding the host institution's course offerings, please contact the UGE Adviser listed below and review our Academic Credit Guidelines > Columbia-Approved.

Program Features

You will have the option to live in a shared apartment, residence hall, or hotel with CIEE students. All housing locations are accessible to public transportation.

CIEE also complements the program with a variety of co-curricular activities and excursions that showcase Singapore's culture, values, and local art, film, music, cuisine, and sports scenes.
