Overview
Immerse yourself in university life at CIEE Spain: Liberal Arts program in Barcelona. Increase language proficiency and learn about Spanish culture by taking a combination of CIEE-run courses and local university courses at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). In order to participate, you need to complete 4 semesters of Spanish, or the equivalent, prior to departure.
Academic Program
You will have the opportunity to take courses designed for U.S. students at CIEE and classes with local and international students at UPF. UPF is known for its international outlook and emphasis on technology and offers a wide range of courses from business to social sciences.
Based on your language proficiency, it is recommended to take one direct enrollment course at UPF; otherwise, you can take a blend of classes at the CIEE Barcelona Study Center as well as UPF-Barcelona Program for Interdisciplinary Studies (UPF-BaPIS). All courses are taught in Spanish.
Program Features
You can choose to live in a homestay, a student residencia (residence hall) with other Spanish and international students, or in a shared apartment. These housing options are located in urban settings throughout the city.
