Overview

The DIS Stockholm: Study Abroad in Scandinavia program in Sweden is unique for its wide range of academic disciplines focused on the country's industry, politics, and research. You will take courses and have opportunities to travel domestically and internationally on Study Tours that enhance your learning experience. You will have a variety of housing options to choose from, including a homestay and Swedish dorm-style residences (otherwise known as Studentboende).

Academics

The DIS Stockholm study center, located in the city center, allows you to choose from nine academic programs with over sixty course offerings on popular subjects such as Engineering, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Neuroscience, Public Health, and Terrorism & Security. The teaching style at DIS Stockholm tends to be hands-on, experiential and utilizes Sweden as an extended classroom. You will take a Core Course, plus four electives. Each course is equal to 3 Columbia points.

Program Features

You have the option of living in a homestay, DIS Living & Learning Community, Studentboende (dorm-style residential buildings with locals, international, and DIS students), and more. You should look at the DIS website to evaluate housing options as they all offer different levels of cultural immersion.

You will be able to integrate into Swedish culture through a multitude of activities organized by DIS. Past activities include volunteer opportunities, language and culture workshops, local clubs or organizations, and more.
