The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is a direct-enrollment program offered during the fall, spring, or academic year. HKUST is a research university that focuses on science, technology, and business complemented by a range of humanities and social sciences offerings. The program is available if you are focused on science, technology or engineering academics. Throughout the semester, you live on campus in residence halls.
Over 6,000 undergraduates and almost 4,000 postgraduates study with 500+ faculty, the majority of whom have their degrees from American, Canadian, and British universities.
The exchange is based at HKUST's School of Science and Columbia students have access to an array of courses in the departments of life sciences, chemistry, math, and physics. Enrolling in courses outside of the School of Science may be possible but it is subject to availability and additional approvals.
While having some background in Chinese is helpful, it is not required. All courses are taught in English.
