With a wide array of subjects, St. Andrews offers you the ability to study many different topics. You will live in a university residence hall.

Academics

The University of St. Andrews was founded in 1413, making it the oldest in Scotland and the third oldest in the United Kingdom. St. Andrews has an international reputation for teaching and research. Popular subjects include Art History, Biology, Classics, Earth and Environmental Sciences, English, History, International Relations, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy. You will take classes alongside full-degree local students. You will take a traditional course load of 60 Scottish credits, which is two to six courses.

To take 3rd and 4th year level courses, you are expected to have a significant background in the subject matter. Know than timetable conflicts can occur when looking at courses in different departments.

St. Andrews is small, beautiful and historic. The university is integrated into the town which is situated along the Fife coast and is full of old buildings dating back as far as the 6th Century. With easy access to the mountains and nearby coast, outdoor opportunities abound to explore the Scottish countryside. St Andrews is 45 miles north of Edinburgh and 13 miles south of Dundee. As a visiting student, you will live in a university residence hall with other students. You are encouraged to participate in student societies and clubs.
