The Wellesley-in-Aix program offers an excellent opportunity for you to study in southern France. You have the opportunity to enroll directly at Aix-Marseille Université or Sciences Po-Aix for a majority of your coursework. The Aix-Marseille Université is one of the most distinguished in France and has a strong focus of French literature, history, and linguistics. During the term, you live in either an apartment or a homestay.


During the term, you take at least two regular university courses at Aix-Marseille Université or Sciences Po-Aix with French local students. The universities offer a wide range of courses to accommodate many majors. You can choose to take the remainder of your courses either at the university or through core courses offered by the program, Wellesley in Aix, which are taught by local French professors. All coursework is completed in French.

Program Features

You may live in an apartment or with a host family selected by the program. In addition, Wellesley-in-Aix hosts various cultural activities and excursions to enable you to more fully immerse yourself in the French culture and surrounding community.

  • To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
