Your study abroad experience does not have to end when you board the plane home. Building upon your time overseas through new global opportunities will help you make the most of it. There are a variety of ways to get involved in international experiences during your final years at Columbia University and beyond.
On-Campus
- Global Learning Assistants (GLAs) in the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement: Share your experience abroad while working as a GLA. The role involves talking with other students about your study abroad experience and providing peer-to-peer support throughout the process. If you are interested in finding out more about the position or applying, please contact us at uge@columbia.edu.
- CSA Visiting and Exchange Student Network (VESN): The VESN is a network of CC and SEAS students selected to serve as resources for Visiting and Exchange Students to facilitate social, cultural, and intellectual exchange. It seeks to help students make the most of their time at Columbia and in New York.
- Student Organizations: Several student organizations focus on specific cultural interests or volunteerism abroad.
Additional Opportunities
- Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (URF): Students can explore options to continue their international studies by seeking out fellowships that fund overseas degree programs, research projects, English-teaching programs, and other forms of international engagement.
- Center for Career Education (CCE): CCE can provide you with resources to effectively market your study abroad experience to future employers, help you find future opportunities to live/work/intern abroad, and learn about Columbia-funded international work opportunities. Visit the CCE website for more information regarding walk-in hours, appointments, events, and resources.
