"The exchange of ideas and perspectives with students from different cultures challenged me to think critically and creatively. It also helped me develop a deeper appreciation for the value of diverse viewpoints, something essential in today's interconnected world."
Participating in the Columbia Summer Research Practicum in Global Behavioral Science (GLOBES) program at The University of Cambridge—one of the most esteemed universities in the world—has been a transformative experience for me as an Israeli student. As a first-generation student whose grandparents escaped from Libya and Morocco after the Holocaust to Israel, being part of this initiative carries a deep sense of pride and significance. My family's history of resilience and survival has always been a source of inspiration for me, and to represent my country in such a prestigious setting feels like a testament to their legacy and the progress my generation has made.
After a challenging year at Columbia University, where I faced intense academic demands and the complexities of war back home, this opportunity offered me a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of purpose. The most rewarding aspect of the GLOBES experience was the exposure to a diverse group of students from various cultural backgrounds. Working collaboratively on research projects with peers from 26 different parts of the world was not only intellectually stimulating but also profoundly enriching on a personal level. This experience underscored the importance of global collaboration in addressing complex issues, an insight that will undoubtedly shape my future academic and professional endeavors.

Being immersed in such a multicultural environment broadened my horizons in ways I had not anticipated. The exchange of ideas and perspectives with students from different cultures challenged me to think critically and creatively. It also helped me develop a deeper appreciation for the value of diverse viewpoints, something essential in today's interconnected world. I take immense pride in the fact that I was able to meet the research's required sample size, contributing meaningfully to our collective efforts.
My experience at GLOBES has been a defining moment in my academic journey. It has not only enriched my understanding of global issues but also reinforced my commitment to contributing positively to the world through my studies and future career.
